Burnley vs Liverpool

The match between Burnley vs Liverpool is currently in progress. The match started on Tuesday, 26 December 2023 18:30 at Turf Moor, Burnley. Burnley FC has scored 0 goals and Liverpool FC has scored.

The only goal of the game so far was scored by Liverpool’s midfielder Fabinho, who followed up his own rebound from a corner kick in the 40th minute. Fabinho has been in a good scoring form lately, with five goals in his last seven games in all competitions.

Burnley had several good chances to equalize, but their new signing Wout Weghorst missed two clear opportunities when he was through on goal. He chipped the ball weakly for Trent Alexander-Arnold to clear, and later sliced the ball wide from close range.

Liverpool are hoping to close the gap with the league leaders Manchester City, who are nine points ahead with a game in hand. Burnley are fighting for survival, as they are bottom of the table and seven points away from safety.

Our prediction for the final result of Burnley vs Liverpool is that Liverpool will win the game by 2-0. We initially predicted 3-0, but looking at the game, 2-0 would be ideal I think they have more quality and confidence than Burnley, and they will score another goal in the second half. Burnley will try to put pressure on Liverpool, but they will lack the finishing touch. Liverpool will also defend well, with Virgil van Dijk and Alisson showing their class. This is just my opinion, of course, and anything can happen in football. What do you think? Do you agree with my prediction?

Burnley vs Liverpool Highlights

  • Darwin Nunez guides a lovely first-time finish into the far corner from just outside of the area after smart play down the left by Gakpo.
  • O’Shea’s near post flick finds Beyer but his shot hits Nunez and deflects over. That’s a warning for Liverpool. They are dominant but Burnley remain a threat at just 1-0 down.
  • Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane returned to the starting line-up for Liverpool after their Africa Cup of Nations duties.
  • LIVERPOOL SCORE BUT IT WON’T COUNT AFTER REVIEW! At 56′ Endo’s incisive pass is met by Beyer’s touch, which takes it into the path of Elliott. The midfielder sprays it out to his right for Gravenberch before continuing his run and getting on the end of the cross to tuck it home, but his celebration is cut short – with Salah deemed to be in an offside position, unsighting the goalkeeper during the shot!
  • The Portuguese forward, Jota, is back with a bang at 90′. He takes Diaz’s pass on the left side of the box and rifles a low shot from a tight angle beyond the keeper. He Scored 2nd Goal and may be, seized the victory!
