Donald Trump will soon face another struggle as, Kirk Bangstad, the owner of Minocqua Brewing Co., is planning to file a lawsuit against Donald Trump for his alleged role in inciting the January 6th insurrection at the US Capitol. Bangstad has accused Donald Trump of spreading lies about the 2020 presidential election, which he claims led to the violent attack on the Capitol. Bangstad has also filed a complaint with the Wisconsin Elections Commission to ban Trump from the state’s ballot in 2024.
In a statement, Bangstad said, “I am filing this lawsuit because I believe that Donald Trump is a danger to our democracy and our country. He has shown time and time again that he is willing to put his own interests above those of the American people, and I believe that he must be held accountable for his actions” .
Bangstad’s complaint to the Wisconsin Elections Commission alleges that Trump violated state law by making false claims about the 2020 election and inciting violence at the Capitol. The complaint also accuses Trump of violating the state’s code of ethics by using his position to promote his own interests.
In response to Bangstad’s lawsuit, Trump’s spokesperson said, “This is just another frivolous lawsuit by a liberal activist who is trying to distract from the real issues facing our country. President Trump has always been a strong supporter of the First Amendment and the right of all Americans to express their views freely and openly”.
It’s worth noting that Bangstad has been involved in several legal disputes in the past. In October 2023, he was ordered to pay $750,000 for defaming a conservative Wisconsin newspaper publisher on social media. In August 2023, the Oneida County committee revoked Minocqua Brewing Co.’s permit over a yearslong dispute. Bangstad has also been the subject of a complaint filed by the Republican Party of Wisconsin with the Federal Elections Commission for alleged reporting failures.

Meanwhile, the Colorado Republican Party has asked the US Supreme Court to reinstate Donald Trump on the primary ballot, officially dragging the nation’s top court into the fight over whether the former president can be legally barred from office. The request comes after the Colorado Supreme Court ruled earlier this month that Trump was disqualified from the state’s ballot based on Section 3 of the 14th Amendment.
